Elephants & 2026 Thoughts To Ponder
My husband and I decided to take our girls on a last minute trip to the zoo over the holiday where we got to visit with 3 gigantic African elephants.
If you've been around long enough (like…from 2016), you would know that Her Brand & Co.'s Lucy Lab Marketing Accelerator, as well as Lucy AI™, are both inspired by our original logo – which was an Elephant I named, Lucy.
While we haven't seen Lucy's icon in a while (she'll make a resurgence this year 😉), being in their incredible presence gifted me a quiet moment to remember why Lucy has been a staple for this brand for so long.
What Elephants Can Teach Us This Year
Elephants have always represented HBC's brand identity primarily for this reason:
They live in matriarchal societies, and they pass down generational knowledge to the members in their herd.
Marketing is abstract and hard to contextualize, and it's only gotten more complicated in the last decade as trends and technologies evolved.
I never went to school for marketing. I learned everything on my own over the course of 15 years by failing, trying, and doing. Now that I've experienced success in a wide variety of disciplines, and for the last 10 years, I've seen it as my personal duty to pass down that knowledge to other founders.
Our mission at HBC has always been to help women create wealth and live their lives by their own rules. With leading by example and extending our knowledge, resources, and social capital – everybody can have the opportunity to thrive.
How We're Going To Stay Grounded This Year
I don't do resolutions because I know they're fleeting; we wake up the same people on January 1st. I am, however, a big proponent of intention setting, which I like to crystalize in a singular word every year (I know many of you do the same).
My word for this year is grounded. Like the head matriarch, her role is to understand what is best for the collective and remember the truth of their journey across lifetimes. In a world that currently feels destabilizing for so many, I want to encourage us all to keep our feet firmly planted.
Here are a few more photos from the break with my favorite people. And as we enter into 2026, don't forget to remember your why.
